Who are we?
We are the Ottawa Invaders; the newest addition
to the NFC
(Northern
Football Conference). We are a very talented group of athletes,
selected from the Ottawa football Community.
The NFC has been in existence since 1954, and is a
semi-professional
league based in Ontario. The league plays by Canadian rules, with a few
differences including: four downs, and a line of scrimmage without a
one year
neutral zone.
How did the team start?
It was founded by students James McAllister and Erik
Faucon, both
former Sir Wilfrid Laurier high school and Cumberland Panthers
teammates.
Through word of mouth and Facebook
popularity, Sean Murphy
and Richard Smith II heard about the attempt to establish the semi-pro team, and immediately dedicated
themselves
to bringing football to Ottawa.
Administration acquired the help of Head
Coach Ken Evraire
and began its training and recruiting!
"I really believe opportunity is knocking. As the only professional football team in the city I think we can capture an audience that loves football and will support football. I believe the goal is to set a high level of expectation and not sway from it regardless of the outcome of the games. We represent Ottawa and it's imperative that we do so with class and with an attention to detail."
