Ottawa Invaders running back TJ Williams takes a moment to sum up his feelings about the upcoming football season that kicks off against Montreal Saturday June 1 at Beckwith Park in Carleton Place.

“I want to be the guy,” said the veteran running back. “I want to be the guy carrying the load. I want the other teams to sit there all week and worry about how they are going to stop number 34.”

Williams will be a focal point of the offence for the Ottawa Invaders as they begin their quest for what has been an elusive Northern Football Conference championship. The Invaders, ranked among the top three semi-pro football teams in Canada for most of last year, want to win their league title after having lost to the Tri-City Outlaws of Kitchener-Waterloo-Guelph in 2011, and the Toronto Titans last year.
